Who We Are

Volunteer Mission: To assist staff, augment services and advocate compassion at Medical Center Hospital.

Medical Center Hospital (MCH) has proudly served Ector County and the surrounding 17 counties of the Permian Basin for more than 75 years. We’ve come a long way since we opened our doors in 1949, growing from a small county hospital into a prosperous 402-bed regional medical center serving over 100,000 patients annually. While we’ve seen many changes over the years, some things have remained unchanged. We are still the only full-service hospital in the region, and we always strive to deliver the best care possible for the people of the Permian Basin.

What We Do

The Volunteer Services Department of Medical Center Hospital supports volunteers ranging in age from 14-94 currently. Adult (23 & up, no longer in college) volunteer applications are accepted all year.  Volunteers assist guests at the entrances, drive shuttle carts from parking lot, cuddle NICU babies, pop popcorn and donate needed equipment/supplies to the hospital.

Junior Volunteer applications are accepted October 1-January 1 for the following summer.  College-age volunteers are accepted in the fall/September, winter/February, and summer/May 15th. Junior & College Volunteers help staff throughout the hospital and gain insight into the various medical fields available to them in the future.
