Who We Are

We are a non-profit that provides free tutoring to children in foster care. Our tutors are all volunteers, and we have helped over 350 children in foster care across Texas! Will you join us in our mission to help more children reach their educational potential! (You must be 18 or older to volunteer)

What We Do

WHIT stands for Weekly Hands-On Independent Tutoring. The goal of The WHIT Program is to help children in foster care get up to speed with school. Our wonderful volunteer tutors will help these children succeed in math and reading and will bring them up to grade level! Foster children have the lowest high-school graduation rate of any group tracked by the state of Texas. We at The WHIT Program aim to change that! We take volunteer university students, and we match them with a foster child who is behind in school to tutor them. Our tutors meet weekly with their student until the child reaches grade level!
