Who We Are
Mission: To Love People, Meet Needs, and Build Relationships.
Mission Agape began in 2012 when Stacy and Ric Baccus felt called to address childhood hunger in the Permian Basin. Starting with weekend food bags made in their kitchen, the initiative quickly grew to serve over 350 children weekly by 2017. In 2013, Mission Agape expanded to support families facing food insecurity by establishing a food pantry and launching programs like the School Supply Event, Mobile Food Outreach, and Christmas Blessing Event. Their work continues to provide hope and resources to those in need.
We are excited to be moving to a new building in July/August of 2025. We will be able to serve more families and children, as well as have more of the community serve alongside of us.
Mission Agape strives to demonstrate God’s love in action. Our organization is dedicated to addressing food insecurity in the Permian Basin. God has been, is, and always will be faithful to provide for our needs.
What We Do
We help fight food insecurity. We have the following outreaches:
- Through our Community Food Pantry, we help families who’ve been referred to us by our community partners. These families are either in crisis or in a financially unstable situation. We ensure they do not go without food while they work through these challenges. We love them, encourage them, and pray with them. We continue to help until their need for food is no longer a concern.
- Our Weekend Food Program is where we provide weekend food support at 19 MISD elementary schools. We provide weekend food bags for 1,800 children every week. Our partnership with these schools includes help with school supplies and Christmas toys.
- We have a Teen Snack Bag Program to provide snack bags for teens who attend secondary schools. These teens often don’t have lunch money or need an extra meal at home. We partner with 18 campuses and provide snack bags for 1,400 students every month. This program is in 4 Permian Basin counties.
- Our Mobile Outreach Program is designed to meet the food needs of communities beyond Midland Country. We sent over 650 food boxes every month to Crane, Grandfalls, Iraan, Sheffield, McCamey, Ozona, and Big Lake, and Denver City.
