Who We Are
Midland Humane Coalition (MHC) is a 501(C)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to partner with Midland Community to end euthanasia of and to find Furr-Ever Homes for healthy, adoptable Dogs and Cats. We do this through adoption, education, and providing resources to our community. In 2010, Midland Humane Coalition was formed and the board applied for a grant of $200,000 through PetSmart Charities that would allow Midland Humane Coalition to operate a small adoption center within the PetSmart Store. PetSmart Charities agreed to complete the construction of the Enhanced Adoption Center within PetSmart while Midland Humane Coalition would be responsible for startup costs. MHC's Enhanced Adoption Center (the 10th center to open nationwide in 2011) allowed for a high traffic, visible location for customers and potential adopters to see the pets that needed furr-ever homes. Construction of the Enhanced Adoption Center started in August of 2011 with a soft opening of the doors on October 28, 2011 and an official opening on November 12, 2011. The largest initiative yet will be the construction of the Van and Joe Mabee Wellness and Treatment Center where more can be done to help save homeless dogs and cats.

We are working on population and diseases control of feral cats - trap/neuter/return (TNR) program Our largest and most important community endeavor is to build the new Van and Joe Mabee Wellness Center. This center will give us the ability to: Connect people to resources through community outreach, Reduce unnecessary illness/disease through education and vaccination clinics, Eliminate unnecessary euthanizations of adoptable pets, Create a learning environment for our community about pet care and health, Provide in-house veterinarian care for adoptable pets, Provide a loving environment for pets while they wait to be adopted, Operate a low cost spay/neuter program for the community, and save more pets! Fundraising and public awareness is achieved through events such as Beer Garden Microchipping, Blue Door profit share event, 5k Hotdog run and 1k walk, Furr-Ball, and Toasting for Tails - New Year's Eve event.
