Volunteer: Walk to End Alzheimer's - Event Day Volunteers

The Walk to End Alzheimer's - Permian Basin is our largest community event to raise awareness and funds for the Alzheimer's Association mission - providing 24/7 free access to care, support, connection to local resources, and research.  On Walk day, we need volunteers in various areas of the event.  Volunteers can also work shifts.  

Event setup begins at 6:00 AM, the event opens to the public at 9:00 AM (need to be ready by 8:30 AM), and we will start tear-down about 11:15-11:30 AM. 

Event Set Up:  We will begin setting up the event at 6:00 AM on Saturday, October 17th.  

Placing tents, tables, and chairsAssisting in setting up the route for participants Assisting in setting up the various areas at the walk (listed below) Ensuring that the event is ready to open by 8:30 AM

Areas at Walk: Each of these areas below needs volunteers throughout the event 

Event Check-in: Greet participants and guide them to the check-in area to receive their wristband and collect any donations. 

Promise Garden:  

Pre-plant the Promise Garden (during event set-up)During the event, assist participants in getting their Promise Garden Flower Keep area tidy and flowers stocked

Team Photo Area: 

We need at least two volunteers to be in this area to assist teams & participants in taking pictures

Refreshment Area: 

Keep area tidy and stocked 

Champions Club: 

Present our Champions with their medals and signs Take photos of the Champions as they receive their medals (or with their teams) 

Kids Area: 

Hand out goodies for the kidsEngage in various games available 

Pet Area: 

Keep area stocked with treats and waterHand out goodies for our four-legged friends

Start/Finish Line - Thank you Brigade - need at least 25 volunteers in this area

Cheer on participants as they head out on the walk route and cheer them as they arrive back at the finish line. 

Route Volunteers:  Need at least 10 volunteers on the route

Cheer on participants as they continue walking Ensure the music and bubble machines are working along the route

Event Tear Down: 

Pack up each area of the Walk and return tubs to the parking lot for loadingReturn all tables and chairs to a central location for pickupEnsure no trash is left behind
