Volunteer Opportunities From: Midland College Legacy Scholars Program

Join us this summer as we create fun activities for families to connect through creativity. Our Summer Enrichment Activities are simple, self-led craft experiences where families can explore, create, and enjoy time together.

Volunteers help bring the experience to life by setting up materials, offering guidance to families, and keeping things running smoothly.

This Volunteer Opportunity will not count towards Legacy Scholars hours. 

Hours limit is 10 per student.

Bringing one of the following items will earn you two community service hours:

Items will be collected by Ms. Aranda Room 101. Cash donations will not be accepted at the school. Agency contact person is listed below.

Help us beautify our outdoor space by trimming trees, picking up trash, and beauty filling the garden. 

Volunteers will help to facilitate a station that will feature either a hands-on experiment, demonstration, or creative activity centered around weather and catastrophic events.  Please dress comfortably and appropriately (i.e. no short shorts, tank tops, flip-flops, etc).  Volunteers are expected to arrive at 5:30 pm. We will finish the evening around 8:30. 

All materials and information will be provided; NO experience required!

Help spark imagination and a love for reading in children during our Reading Hour! Each session includes a story followed by a fun, themed craft activity.

Volunteers support by setting up crafts and snacks, assisting kids during the activity, and - if they’re comfortable - even reading aloud to the group.

The Family Hope Center provides families with support, encouragement, and resources as they work toward stability and growth. Through classes, coaching, and community gatherings, families are equipped with tools to build a stronger future

This volunteer opportunity supports parents while they attend required trainings and educational classes. These gatherings are an important part of equipping caregivers with the tools and encouragement they need to care well for children in their homes.

Volunteers will provide childcare during these sessions by engaging children in games, activities, and supervised play in a safe and welcoming environment. By caring for children during this time, volunteers help parents focus fully on learning, connection, and support

Because this role involves working directly with children, volunteers will be contacted to complete a background check and any other required steps before being eligible to serve in childcare roles. Our Volunteer Coordinator, Azurie Rodriguez, will work with you through this process and answer any questions along the way.

Commitment: once you have signed up, you CANNOT cancel. We get penalized for no-shows, so we appreciate your reliability. 

Arrival Time: you must be there by 5:30 

Attire: You must wear a Family Promise shirt or a Rockhounds shirt. 

Hat & Hair: Hair must be pulled back, and you are required to wear a hat. The hat must be plain, or it can be a Rockhounds hat.

Basin PBS' Main Street Live is back on May 28th with Country music legend Travis Tritt headlining the event! Volunteers will be:

8:00am-9:30am 

Handing out programs (at least 3 people can be students)

Manning the refreshment tables (at least 4 people can be students)

Ushers to line up and direct students (2–3 people probably need to be us)

Student check-in and certificate pick-up (Adrianna will lead this, but will need one additional helper, who can also be a student)

Join Nigerians in West Texas (NIWT) as a volunteer for our Annual Nigeria Cultural Day 2026! This public event brings together the community to celebrate Nigerian culture through food, fashion, music, dance, comedy, and games.

Volunteers will assist with event setup, guest coordination, cultural activities, vendor support, and general event operations. This is a great opportunity to serve the community, gain experience, and be part of a vibrant cultural celebration.

Midland Memorial Hospital is looking for Junior Volunteers (ages 14 to 17) to be a Tour Guide or Door Greeter inside the hospital. 

This is a great way to earn community service hours for scholarship applications and very valuable customer service experience. Come join the fun and learn about health care careers in addition to community service hours.

Hours are very flexible and time slots are available weekdays and weekends. We will provide orientation and training.

Cost is $25 for uniform.

Be part of one of our most fun events of the year! Our Father’s Day Cornhole Tournament brings dads/father figures and their kids together for friendly competition, great food, and music.

Help us celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week in a BIG way,  as Clifford the Big Red Dog! Basin PBS is visiting area schools May 4–7, and we need a friendly, energetic volunteer to wear the Clifford costume and bring smiles to students and teachers. You'll be visiting classrooms, posing for pictures, and spreading PBS joy. You will need to travel with us to different elementary schools in the area.

Neighbors Eden Project invites Midland College Legacy students to roll up their sleeves and serve with us on Thursday nights.

March 19, 2026 – October 29, 2026

Thursdays | 5:45 PM – 8:30 PM

Each week, our volunteers head out to help elderly and disabled neighbors who can’t maintain their yards on their own.

Together, we clear debris, pull weeds, trim plants, and refresh outdoor spaces so these homeowners can once again enjoy a safe, welcoming yard.

It’s hard work, but it’s the kind of work that feels good. In just a couple of hours, you’ll see the difference you made with your own hands.

Neighbors Eden Project workdays take place on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, through March. These are extra hours you can earn once you complete the work on that Saturday.

Serve with purpose while building leadership and communication skills.

This Youth in Action volunteer opportunity allows students to earn up to 3 verified volunteer hours through a structured service project that follows same-day, in-person volunteer work with Neighbors Eden Project serving elderly and disabled neighbors.

Project hours are only available to students who participate in the actual workday.

To participate in the project activities below, students must:
• Volunteer in person on the scheduled service day
• Sign in and complete the full workday
• Follow all safety and participation guidelines

Students who do not volunteer on the workday are not eligible to earn project hours.

Up to 2 Volunteer Hours:
• Complete the specified Project: Community Impact Reflection to earn 30 minutes of time.

• Complete the journal for 30 additonal minutes
• Submit the required project form through the provided QR link

+1 Additional Volunteer Hour
• Submit a 60-second presentation video
• Presentation must explain the project and lessons learned from that service day
• Video must be student-created and clearly presented

Maximum Hours Per Student: 2

• Service must be completed before project submission (3 days after the work date)

We’re gearing up for our Valentine’s Dance and would love a few helping hands to make the night extra special! We need support with serving pizza and drinks, handing out door prizes, doing some light chaperoning while students dance, and helping with clean‑up and take‑down afterward. The event runs from 6–8 PM, and if you could please arrive by 5:30 PM, we’ll go over a few quick housekeeping notes and assign everyone to their stations.

Opportunity for YWLA student volunteers

Sibley Nature Center is in need of volunteers to support the maintenance and upgrade of the Sibley Nature Trail System. Located on 49.1 acres of land in Midland, Sibley manages a public trail system that is available to the community 7 days a week, sunrise to sunset. Volunteers are needed to assist with trash pickup, weeding, mowing and general campus maintenance. Interested volunteers are invited to work with the Sibley Campus Maintenance Technician, Monday - Thursday 9a.m. to 4 p.m. Volunteers who would like to support during other hours are welcome. All volunteers must call ahead and speak with staff before signing up to volunteer at Sibley.

Jury duties are held on scheduled Monday evenings. Arrive between 4:30 and 5:00pm and have someone pick you up by 6:15pm. Listed below are the dates for 2025. You will receive 2 hours of community service for each jury duty you attend.

Jubilee Center needs people to help stock our pantry on the Fridays before our distributions that take place on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month. This includes loading freezers and organizing food in preparation for our pantry.  We also have a senior distribution that immediately follows stocking from 11:30am-12:30pm that volunteers are asked to stay and help with. 

Hello CHAP Students,

 Below is a worthy service opportunity for CHAP students and organizations to volunteer and help children in foster care!  WHIT is a non-profit that provides free tutoring to foster children.   

WHIT is needing 25 tutors ASAP to support 25 foster students with tutoring for 1 hour/week, until the end of school, with the option of tutoring through the summer as well!  We know many students go home when the semester ends, but tutoring can also be done virtually.  One hour a week can make a world of difference to these young kids who deserve to have an ally in their education. CHAP students can be that ally!

WHAT DO TUTORING SESSIONS LOOK LIKE:

 Tutoring sessions occur weekly for one hour and can take place in person or virtually, depending on where the child is placed.

Face-to-face tutoring sessions can only take place at the public or University library in the town where the child is placed. Virtual sessions take place via the Zoom or Teams platform in a very engaging one child/one tutor setting.

STEPS TO BECOMING A WHIT TUTOR FOR CHILDREN IN FOSTER CARE:

1. Filling out the WHIT tutor application is the first step to becoming a volunteer tutor.

Once we get word that your background check is cleared and you have completed the online training, I will email you congratulating you on officially becoming a WHIT tutor and I will work on matching you with a child in foster care waiting for a tutor!
