Who We Are
Nigerians in West Texas (NIWT) is a nonprofit organization founded by and for Nigerians living in the Midland–Odessa region and surrounding communities. We are a growing network of professionals, families, students, and leaders committed to building a stronger, more connected Nigerian presence in West Texas.
We believe in the power of community, culture, and collaboration. Our members come from diverse backgrounds but share a common goal: to uplift one another, preserve our heritage, and create opportunities for future generations.
At our core, we are:
Bridge-builders between Nigerian traditions and West Texas life
Advocates for equity, access, and representation
Supporters of one another’s dreams, from immigration to entrepreneurship
Celebrators of Nigerian excellence, resilience, and joy
Whether you’ve just arrived or have called Texas home for decades, NIWT is here to welcome, empower, and walk alongside you.
