Who We Are

At the Recording Library of West Texas, our mission is to create high-quality recordings that enrich the lives of blind and low-vision individuals, as well as anyone unable to read the printed word due to a visual, physical, or learning impairment.
Our commitment is to break down barriers for those who cannot access the printed word. Through a wide range of audio materials—including books, magazines, newspapers, and newsletters—we help keep the community informed, engaged, and inspired. We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to stay connected and thrive, regardless of their ability to read traditional print.
We’re proud to offer our resources in multiple formats to reach as many individuals as possible. Our services go beyond supporting the blind and low-vision community; we also provide valuable resources for individuals with dyslexia and other learning disabilities, as well as senior services in Midland, TX.
The Recording Library of West Texas is a volunteer-based organization, and we need your voice to help make a difference. By donating your time and talents, you can join our mission to bring accessible, life-changing resources to those in need. At the Recording Library of West Texas, we’re not just delivering audio; we’re creating opportunities for individuals to thrive, grow, and live their best lives.

We are currently utilizing the Every Neighbor volunteer platform to register and keep track of all our volunteers.

What We Do

We offer audio recordings of printed materials for individuals with visual, physical, or learning impairments. Our volunteers record books, magazines, newspapers, and specialized materials like textbooks and Sunday school lessons, which are then distributed through our various programs. These include personalized recording services, the Recording Library Radio Station, and audio description services.
