Permian Basin Be the Change

Mission: To provide students with tools necessary for success, by developing relationships of encouragement and hope for a better future.

Permian Basin—Be the Change (BTC) was founded and granted 501(c)3 status in the 2013-2014 school year. In that same year, the newly founded organization served over 2,500 students. Having only served Midland, in 2017, Be the Change reached another milestone, by finally expanding its services to Odessa. Since Be the Change’s inception, its programs have serviced thousands of students through collaboration with their prospective schools.

BTC believes that all kids deserve an opportunity to be the best version of themselves. BTC provides programs that build trust, offer tools for goal setting, mentorship, and leadership skills. Participants improve in each of the five emotional intelligence core competencies: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, social skills, and empathy.

Be The Change (BTC) provides strong and impact-based experimental learning programs specifically designed to meet the increasing mental health needs exacerbated by the times of today. By developing peoples’ emotional intelligence, decision-making skills, interpersonal competencies, and positive future orientation, BTC programs yield life-changing outcomes for its participants. Through community partnerships, BTC provides students with essential resources to assist them in overcoming whatever obstacles they face and empowering them to succeed in life. Be The Change programs not only helps people build their own confidence and resilience, but it also helps them take more ownership of their learning and their lives.
